Lisa Sussman Eye On South Florida – James Bay was able to heat up the Miami night with his smash tour set list at the Fillmore in Miami Beach. Quickly rising up the charts with memorable songs like this summers smash hit “Let It Go”. James Bay opened his set with a Collide, Craving, Fire, & If You Ever. The crowd sang along to every song. The crowd was of mixed ages ranging from a teen to fans in their 40+. James Bay commands the stage with his masterful guitar playing reminiscent of legendary guitarist like Neil Young or Eric Clapton wrapped up in a Millennial package. An old soul stirring emotions that provokes thoughts of joy and wisdom. He has his stage act down considering he is relatively new to the scene. The album Chaos and Calm is his first released album and currently sits at 16 on the top 100 Billboard Charts. Bay’s control and composure would make you think differently. He is engaging as witnessed in the crowd sung “Fallin Love”. He moved from one guitar to the next with a smooth control, a game plan that made you forget that a 4 piece band was backing him up. Using his guitar as a voice, an extension of himself.
JOSEPH the sister trio band from Oregon opened the night for Bay. The strong acoustic set mixed with powerful harmonies felt fresh and exciting. I googled this band and was blown away by their catalog of music. They are the perfect warm up to rock vocals of James Bay and are rising stars on their own..be on the look out for more to come from this talented sister act.
