Markham Park- Sunrise, FL – The 1st Annual RockFest80’s kicked off a two day concert series April 2nd & 3rd at Markham Park in Sunrise, FL. The venue hosted 2 stages and 80’s themed vendors and was sponsored by BIG 105.9 Paul Castranovo & Young Ron and Budweiser Beer. The performers and rock musicians of the 80’s generation showcased their hits to an eager crowd who came to see their favorite bands playing their epic hits. Headlining the two day event were Geoff Tate, Sebastian Bach, Lynch Mob, Slaughter, Winger, The Romantics, “Ace” Frehley of KISS, Trixter, Warrant, Tom Keifer (Cinderella), John Waite, Vixen, & Night Ranger, to name a few. Closing acts included Bret Michaels on Saturday and Lead singer Paul Rodgers of Free, The Firm & Bad Company closed RockFest 80’s on Sunday Night.

I had a chance to catch up with Bret Michaels Saturday night before heading out on stage. We ran into one another while he was relaxing and throwing a football around with the band. Easy going, relaxed, and engaging. We caught up again at the media tent where we spoke about younger artists and the advise he would give. “Be who you are, find a way to make more of what you have. It takes a lot of hard work, and a little bit of luck.” Michaels goes on to say, “Stay true to who you are, believe in yourself and above all, never give up.” Check out the entire live interview in the Eye On South Florida production clip and check out Eddie Trunk, music historian and VH1 “That Metal Show” personality as he talks about how relative a new 80’s concert is and how this now brings a fresh perspective to 3 generations of fans.
