wang chung backstageBoca Raton : FL — Here was the line up : Wang Chung, Modern English, Information Society, A Flock of Seagulls, and headlining was Debbie Gibson. This was a night filled with neon prints and leg warmers, it was DJ stylin’ hits that had the sold out Mizner Park Amphitheater on their feet. Singing out “Hey, Ho, Hey, Ho”. Many came out to touch back on great memories of 80’s high school days and to relive coming of age moments attached to concerts that many attended years ago.

Nick Feldman and Jack Hues of Wang Chung got everyone up and moving rendition of Dance Hall Days from 1983. They kept the party going with an 8 set song list ending with their most popular hit from 1986, Everybody Have Fun Tonight. I caught up with lead singer Jack Hues backstage after his set. He was thrilled to be apart of this concert series put on by live nation and spoke of the energy in the crowd.”People still love to get up and rock..old and young they are still rocking out to this music.” Jack Hues knows a thing or two about a rock star life. He has been signed by major record labels since 1980 with Rewind as well as Arista, Columbia and Virgin Records. The Ultimate 80’s Concert was a 2 hour long event that had hits like What’s On Your Mind (1988) & Running (1984) by Information Society.

Debbie GibsonThe MTV generation of the 80’s was launched by these and many other bands and music videos began to have a larger effect on the record business. The keyboard synthesizer and drum machine were among the most popular instruments in music during the 80s, especially in new wave music. In 1988 a fresh face came onto the scene, Debbie Gibson. In 1987 Gibson was the youngest female artist to write, produce, and perform a NO.1 single on the Billboard Hot 100, with her song “Foolish Beat”. She continues to record, and reached the adult contemporary charts. Gibson closed The Ultimate 80’s Concert with “Shake Your Love”. “This whole night was like, totally awesome!” Gibson says to the crowd as she heads off stage.
Up next for Live Nation at Mizner Park Amphitheater is “Legends of Old School 2”. For more info go to
